Description :
Created to cross the Peisey-Nancroix' valley without damaging it,
the extraordinary VANOISE EXPRESS Cable car is a unique technical exploit.
It is this day the biggest cable car of the world : 2 cabins of 2 levels can take 200 persons.
( Capacity: 2000 persons per hour and by direction)
To be more precise, it is about 2 parallel and independent cable cars, which allow a lot of flexibility to manage passengers stream.
Other exploit: the cable car crosses the valley without intermediate pylon. (1824 m of length, 64m only of made uneven. The cabin is at 380m of the ground on the highest point)
The third exploit: its speed: 45km / hour, world record. The crossing can be made in 3 minutes 50 seconds.
The station departure station, called " driving station " is in Plan-Peisey, on the municipality of Peisey-Nancroix at 1621 m of elevation.
The arrival station, called " tension station " is at 1548m of elevation upstream to Montchavin, municipality of Bellentre.
2 DC engines: 530kW - 1 180 tr/mn, as powerful as a T.G.V.

The construction started in 2003 and had been inaugurated in January, 2004.
During winter 2007/2008, this prototype of cable car has to undergo works of modification.
