The history focused them on different periods.
- Vallandry, the valley's gateway, at 800 m is the chief town of the eponymous village.
- The valley's core is the chief town of an other village : Peisey, at 1 350 m of elevation, and its two big hamlets, Le Villaret, on west, Moulin, on south.
- The first place of interest, from the 19th century's ending, was Nancroix
For this reason, in the middle of the 20th century, the village's name had changed to become " Peisey-Nancroix ".
